Load shedding and borehole pumps — get a generator

During stage 6 last year our cattle went 8 hours without water because the borehole pump is electric. I bought a second-hand 7.5kVA diesel generator for R18k. Now it kicks in automatically. If you run livestock, water is non-negotiable. Budget for backup power. The R18k paid for itself the first week when we didn't lose a single animal to dehydration stress.
