Dorper breeding — why I keep a ram book

Every mating season I record which ram goes with which ewes. Sounds old-fashioned but it prevents inbreeding and lets you track which sires produce the best lambs. My ram Rambo has thrown lambs that reach market weight 2 weeks earlier than average. Without records, I wouldn't know that. The animal tracking on this app makes it easy — just log the breeding event.
